Located about 30 kilometers inland, São Pedro de Alcântara, Santa Catarina, Brazil, is considered as the first place that Luxembourgish migrants were sent to establish themselves after a few months’ temporary stay on the island of Florianopolis. The town has always put a long standing emphasis on its heritage as a “germanic colony”. 2023 was the first year that Luxembourg was represented at the town’s long running Stammtisch event. ACLUX, the Association of Luxembourgish Citizens in Brazil, had a tent at the event to welcome guests and talk about Luxembourg.
